Amendment 4 Florida Hometown Democracy

Amendment 4 will be on the ballot in November of 2010. The amendment requiring voters to approve all local Comprehensive land use plan changes will have a devastating effect on the Counties within Florida.
1. THE DISRUPTION-- Cities and counties will be required to hold elections for proposed comprehensive plan changes. That change would have required more than 10,000 local votes to achieve resolution of the agendas.

2.THE DISORDER --Voters will be swamped with highly technical materials prepared by local governments to explain the changes to the plan, often it is difficult for professionals such as engineers and attorneys to understand the changes proposed.

3.THE COST --Every city and county throughout Florida will be burdened with preparing informational material and the additional elections needed to fulfil the new proposal.

4.THE RESULT-- THIS AMENDMENT WILL NOT STOP GROWTH AS THE SUPPORTERS ARE HOPING FOR,it will make well planned, smarter growth much more difficult. The amendment will encourage sprawl which reduces green space and make growth management more difficult.

Please consider all the ill effects of this proposal before forming an opinion.
